Embrace

One of the things I love about my sweet husband is that when I come up with an idea, no matter how crazy, he will sit and chat with me about it.  So when I said..."tonight can we talk about our resolutions for next year...I have an idea".  He simply replied "sure, I can't wait to hear it".  Now that is a sign of a great husband.  Nate and I decided not to do a New Year's resolution this year and instead we decided to use one word to define our goals. Something short and simple that we could say to each other to help us remember what it is we want to achieve this year.  So after talking about changes we want to make and things we were hoping for ourselves in the future the word we decided on was embrace.

em·brace
əmˈbrās/

1.
an act of holding someone closely in one's arms.
"they were locked in an embrace"

2.
an act of accepting or supporting something willingly or enthusiastically.
"their eager embrace of foreign influences"

Basically, we want to accept and support:

  • the life we have been given,
  • the healthy bodies that we have,
  • the home where our memories are made,
  • the beautiful children we are blessed with,
  • the family whom we love,
  • and the friendships we are honored to have.

This new years resolution is not about the typical changes like we have tried to make in years past, and much more about consciously being aware and supportive of everything we have been blessed with.  We want to embrace our life! We want to be present and give our children the best possible childhood we can.  We want to consciously make an effort to to see friends we love and be there to support their needs.  We want to be good examples to our children of loving and accepting ourselves, just as we are and without any changes needed.  We have been given such a great life and 2015 is all about being activity grateful for what we have and not working towards any bigger and better goal.  We simply want to be happy and content in this year.

So bring on 2015.  We don't know what this year will be like...

but we choose to embrace it!

  1. So if "Embrace" is for "next year" you do not need to start until 2016.
