Some school weeks are long. They are filled with hard recorder tests, too much homework and confusing math problems. I constantly try to remember that what seems so small to adults is really the whole world to our kids. A rough day in music class can add up to the same feelings as a rough day at work. I usually can't change what the kids have ahead of them in their school day, but I can help put a smile on their face before they leave. Cooking together and laughing as we eat breakfast helps make the rough day ahead seem a little less rough. After all, it is really hard to frown while enjoying pancakes with syrup. Pancakes did not change the fact that it wasn't Friday yet, but it made Thursday a little more bearable.
