| Frost on the pumpkins! It is getting chilly in the mornings. |
Halloween seemed to last an extra-long time for us this year. I think it was because it was in the middle of the week and activities were spread out from the weekend before to the weekend after. Dylan went to a dance and a party, Aliya went to a party and trick or treating and Trent stayed home on Halloween night and enjoyed a bag of candy I had hidden for him and some relaxing time playing video games. After all, that was done we hosted our own fall party on Saturday filled with many of the kids' friends and their parents. We had a campfire, giant messy smores, tons of food and lots of laughter as the kids played hide and seek in the dark as well as games inside. It was a spur of the moment decision to let the kid have this party but after that simple "sure, why not" we were all in on the planning and the enthusiasm grew each day. We kept it very simple and it was really nice to catch up with parents who our kids spend a lot of time with due to their friendships and to let our kids have their friends over in a large group setting. I think judging by the happiness on our kids' faces we will definitely be doing it again soon!
