Dating

Nate and I used to diligently try to get a date night in each month before Covid hit.  However, covid has definitely thrown us for a loop and we haven't been going out near as much for anything, especially anything unnecessary.  That being said date nights for the last year have looked more like a cozy night at home, with a yummy snack and a game than an event or a dinner out.  We have both worked hard to make sure we make time for the two of us but it definitely hard to sneak time alone in a house full of teens who can stay awake later than we can!  Now that vaccines are being distributed and case numbers are starting to decline, things are starting to open back up again.  It is so exciting to see and hear life resuming but there is a bit of fear in all of us after living through such a hard year and knowing that we are not out of the woods just yet.  While the kids were at school the other day Nate and I grabbed our masks and took off for Portsmouth.  We were only there for a couple of hours but it was the biggest thing we have done in so long that it felt exhilarating.  Just walking on the street, holding hands, and chatting was all we needed to feel alive. There are still no crowds in the streets and you can tell the shops are desperate for business to be what it was again, but it really feels like we are getting close and that hopefully, the tide is about to change for the better.  I am hoping that the change in tide brings in so many good things into our life, including many more dates.
