Living in Today

"You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow, they will be a little older then they were today. This day is a gift, breathe and notice, smell and touch them; study their face and little feet and pay attention. RELISH THE CHARMS of THE PRESENT. Enjoy today Momma, it will be over before you know it!"

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in routine and going through the motions of what makes an “ordinary” day that we miss the extraordinariness of being able to share each new day with our ever-growing, ever-changing children.  This quote is an excellent reminder. It inspires me to take pictures, jot down memories, record videos more often, because what seems so normal today will soon only be a memory. It inspires me to listen intently to the silly stories my kids tell, to the things they ask for, to the things they dream of…today, because tomorrow, they will be different. It inspires me to hold their hands a little longer, trace their fingers one more time, because tomorrow they will be bigger. It inspires me to snuggle up to them at night, because one night, they won’t want me to. It inspires me to pick Aliya up and carry her on my hip, no matter how heavy she is, because tomorrow she may weigh a little more and want to be carried a little less. It inspires me to enjoy the subtle differences in each day and appreciate the things that have not yet changed.
